Community Development
The Community Development Department plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for Iberville Parish residents. Through planning, coordination, and delivery of essential programs and services, the department works to strengthen community engagement and well-being across the parish.
Our team oversees a variety of initiatives and services designed to meet the diverse needs of our residents. This includes supervision of the Iberville Parish Behavioral Health Center, the Council on Aging, and the Office of Community Services. By collaborating with local agencies, stakeholders, and government partners, the department ensures that resources are effectively managed and programs are responsive to the needs of our community.
At its core, Community Development is dedicated to building stronger, healthier, and more connected communities throughout Iberville Parish.

The Iberville Parish Community Service Department serves as a clearinghouse for community needs, with a focus on health, stability, and the betterment of all disadvantaged and low-income individuals, children and families in our community. We provide a number of services including utility payment assistance, utility deposit assistance, prescription medication payment assistance, OSHA cards, emergency food vouchers, USDA commodities, and federal emergency rental/mortgage assistance.
The Office of Community Services provides services to the following areas within the parish: Plaquemine, White Castle, St Gabriel, Maringouin, Grosse Tete, Rosedale, Carville, Sunshine, Bayou Goula, Crescent, Bayou Pigeon, and Bayou Sorrell.

Quality service is provided to seniors in the following areas according to Capital Area Agency on Aging and Iberville Parish Council on Aging Standards and Regulations.
- Transportation: We drive seniors to places such as senior centers, medical appointments, or social service agencies.
- Home Delivered Meals: Nutritionally balanced, frozen meals are delivered to seniors who are homebound or disabled.
- Wellness & Health: We provide a range of services that promote health and well-being to the seniors of our community.
- Acadian On Call: Medical alerts connect you with the help you need, as fast as possible, 24 hours a day to provide emergency response units.
- Conversational/Check-up Calls: We periodically phone seniors who live alone to show our care and concern, and to ensure their health and well-being is cared for.
- Congregate Meals: We provide a well-balanced nutritious meal at the local senior centers, served daily at 11:30 a.m.
We also offer Seminars, Bingo, Arts & Crafts, Games and other programs at our centers.

IPSAC is proud to provide substance abuse services to residents of Iberville Parish. We value your privacy and provide confidential services. IPSAC counselors provide assessments, recommendations, outpatient individual and group treatment, and referrals to other agencies as appropriate.
- Prevention services for children, grades K-5
- Addiction assessment for adults
- Addiction education for adults
- Group and individual therapy for adults
- Family therapy as requested for adults
- Referral for inpatient and detoxification as needed for adults
- Referral to other agencies as appropriate
- Continuing care for adults
- Urine drug screen for adults
Admission criteria for treatment:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must have access to transportation, or
- Access to telephone or internet for virtual services.
*Some services may require limited in-person access (i.e., urine drug screens)
