Public Works

The Iberville Parish Public Works Department (commonly called the Parish Maintenance Facility) develops and maintains a master plan for the improvement of drainage, roads, streets, and infrastructure throughout the parish. The department is directed by the Parish President and provides updates on activities on a regular basis.

The department is responsible for maintenance of Parish Government property, buildings, grounds and equipment; construction and maintenance performed by Parish Government on roads, sidewalks, bridges and drainage facilities; operation of a central facility for the repair and maintenance of Parish Government vehicles and equipment; and other such duties and activities as may be assigned in writing by the Parish President.

  • Maintains drainage in 600 plus miles of canals throughout Iberville Parish.
  • Maintains public property throughout the parish. A total of 10 tractors are utilized for grass-cutting services.
  • Installs culverts. The Parish will install culverts purchased by homeowners in order to assure proper installation and grade, so that proper drainage is assured.
  • Maintains roads by repairing potholes, picking up fallen tree limbs and inspecting roadways for stability.
  • Oversees road overlay projects, such as the projects underway in 2005 on Gracie Lane, Sawmill Road and Manchac Road.
  • Sprays parish canals to kill weeds and maintain proper drainage.

Special Note: The parish cannot provide dirt or limestone to homeowners or do any type of work on private property unless it is directly related to drainage.

To report a parish road or drainage problem, such as a missing street sign, drain cover, pothole, etc complete the online form or call (225) 687-5148 during business hours.

If a problem occurs after business hours and creates an emergency situation, such as a large tree limb on a roadway or a drainage problem that can cause flooding, call 911.
