Environment & Economic Development

The Iberville Parish Department of Economic Development and Environmental is dedicated to advancing a strong, diversified, and sustainable parish economy while upholding a high standard of environmental stewardship. The Department works to recruit, retain, and support businesses of all sizes, recognizing that economic growth and environmental protection are mutually reinforcing priorities essential to the long-term prosperity of the parish and the well-being of its residents.

Iberville Parish possesses significant competitive advantages that position it as a strategic center for business development and industrial expansion. These include abundant natural resources, access to the Mississippi River, proximity to the Gulf of Mexico, the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway, U.S. Interstate 10, major rail lines, and extensive pipelines — all of which provide efficient routes for commerce and global trade. The parish also offers 12 Louisiana Economic Development “State Certified Sites,” several of which have deep-water access, and a range of shovel-ready properties suitable for new industry and investment.

In addition to its economic assets, Iberville Parish is home to expansive waterways, green spaces, agricultural lands, and the world-class Atchafalaya Basin—the largest river swamp in the United States. These natural and cultural resources provide opportunities for public outdoor recreation, ecotourism, and continued investment in the parish’s unique environmental and cultural heritage.

The Department’s efforts are guided by a clear mission: to support sustainable economic development, enhance local workforce opportunities, and protect the parish’s natural environment and quality of life. Its vision is to ensure that Iberville Parish remains a place where residents, businesses, and future generations can prosper within a balanced and resilient environment.

By integrating economic development and environmental services within one department, Iberville Parish Government demonstrates a unified and forward-looking commitment to growth, environmental quality, and community success. The Department stands ready to support business, industry, residents, and partners in advancing a prosperous and sustainable future for Iberville Parish.
